Welcome to our expat travel blog!
This travel blog was created as a result of the decision we made in May of 2022 to quit our jobs, give away nearly everything we own, and move from the US to France.
We first fell in love with France when we visited about 10 years ago and we have been back many times since then to various parts of the south of France. We had never been to Paris until last May, which is when we decided we wanted to leave our high stress jobs and 24/7 work lifestyle in the US and move somewhere in France.
Our YouTube Channel "KJ and Tony Move to France" and this travel blog document our journey of giving up all our belongings in the USA to make our dream of living in France a reality.
We are spending the first year of our travel journey (maybe less, maybe more) to discover where in France we would like to settle as American expats. Afterall, there are so many incredibly beautiful areas in France, and we want to experience as many different French regions and departments as possible before we make our final decision.
Tony is leaning more toward Paris, while I (KJ) have a vision of buying a small chateau and converting it into a charming B&B. We are both Escape to the Chateau fans! Although a project of that undertaking is not something we would want to take on, something on a smaller scale with not so much renovation involved would be more in our interest.
A little bit about our history...
Tony and I have both worked in the addiction recovery field for many years (Tony about 19 years and KJ for over 12 years). We help people come out of the darkness of their addiction and achieve successful recovery. As a part of that process, we need to be in the dark with our clients to help them navigate their way into the light. This has been incredibly rewarding for both of us, but it is also very difficult, stressful, and exhausting work.
In this next phase of our lives, our vision is to continue to help people seeking recovery through our Fostering Resilience channel and to use our "Golden" years to be "Happiness Creators" for those who are already living in the light. Now, we just need to decide where in France that will be. Your thoughts and comments regarding this endeavor are welcomed.
Merci, beaucoup for taking the time to read this and any other part of our France Travel Vlog. We hope that it will be an inspiration to others who may want to do the same.
